A Dog’s Eye View of Las Vegas

We all slept on the pull-out couch on our last night in Salt Lake City. The next morning, we got up early and they packed the car again. We drove for a long time, then stopped for a hike.

I ran all over the hills and stained my paws dark red with Utah dirt. It was awesome! Andrew and Kayla seemed bummed that we couldn’t go to Zion National Park. I guess dogs aren’t really welcome there. Probably because some owners like to leave poop lying around.

Anyway, the hike was great. I ran all over the place and even fetched a few sticks. We got to Las Vegas pretty late that evening.

In some ways, Las Vegas is just like Denver or Salt Lake City. Kayla takes me for a run almost every morning, and we go hiking or rock climbing a few days every week. Andrew and Kayla leave me almost every day and stare at their computers for hours and hours.

In other ways, it’s pretty different. It’s super, duper hot here. Like really hot. Like, my paws burned on asphalt a few times hot. Kayla kept getting up earlier and earlier for our morning runs. She kept forgetting to bring me water on our runs. She told me that she’ll remember on our next one, though.

I did get to go to more coffee shops in Las Vegas, so that was great!

Our host is really awesome. I like cuddling with him, but he sure smokes a lot of weed. His dog Cheyenne is really nice too. She’s a border collie mix, but she’s not much like me. She mostly just wants to sleep and cuddle with her people. So we kind of just coexist. It’s fine.

Andrew and Kayla took me to Red Rocks National Conservation Area a few times. It was great! I ran all over the place but managed to keep my paws away from the cacti. Andrew got a drone and Kayla got a new phone, so I modeled a lot in the last two weeks.

I haven’t been playing much fetch, so that sucks. I came with Andrew and Kayla to the coffee shop a few days and practiced sleeping under the table. I’m getting good at that, but I’d much rather squeak my squeaky toy and try to make people throw it for me. I guess there’s not much to report here overall.

Barley is a four year old border collie who absolutely loves fetch. His zest for life keeps Kayla and Andrew on their toes. He’s also really, really, ridiculously good looking.
